Our Story

Born from Cold Mornings
& Warmer Hands

Glacier Grind began with a simple conviction: that Fairbanks deserves coffee as deliberate and distinctive as the landscape around it. We started in a garage with a 6-ounce batch roaster and a notebook full of origin profiles. Today, we still roast every batch by hand, right here on Schacht Street.

Our beans come from farms that practice sustainable agriculture — from the highlands of Ethiopia to the volcanic slopes of Guatemala. Each lot is cupped, scored, and roasted to reveal its character. We don't chase trends. We chase flavor.

The Process

From Cherry to Cup
in Six Deliberate Steps

Every decision in our process is made with one question: what brings out the best in this bean?

Source

We travel to origin or work directly with importers we trust, cupping every lot before it earns a place in our rotation.

Roast

Every batch is roasted on our 6-ounce drum roaster. We monitor development time, color, and aroma — never running on autopilot.

Rest

Beans rest for 5–10 days after roasting, allowing CO₂ to degas and flavors to settle into their final expression.

Cup

Every roast is cupped and scored against our flavor profile. If it doesn't meet the standard, it doesn't leave the roastery.

Brew

Our baristas are trained in precision extraction — dialing in grind, ratio, and temperature for every method we offer.

Share

The final step is the most important. We serve every cup with warmth and pride, knowing it represents the best we can offer.
